Orange is the New "I Love You"
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 27, 2009:
i'm actually awful at accepting compliments, i think. whenever i get one, i always feel like, 'oh, i don't deserve that,' or, 'oh, no, you shouldn't say that,' or the like. i think what it is is that i'm good at undervaluing myself.
i just got back from an amazing youth conference called DCLA 09 [it happens every three years, in LA and in DC. i went to the LA one with the church youth group i volunteer with]. it was amazing. this year's theme was "Be. Love. Serve. Repeat," and the first part, "Be," was all about our identities. God made us, and though we may not be perfect, we are all made to God's specifications, and a perfect being, i imagine, would do a pretty good job when planning creations. so i'm realising that i do have value, and i do have talents and skills, and when i'm complimented, if it's true, i should accept it and be thankful for the acknowledgment, rather than put myself down.
